Your Neighborhood?
The drive from the Samaritan's Purse to Ishinomaki is pretty. You see green rice fields to your left and right and beautiful mountain ranges. It's almost hard to believe what has happened around the area in March.
But once you get to a certain place...the scene changes. You start seeing empty buildings with glasses broken, broken concrete, piles of HUGE mountain of trash...and all you can do is just stare at it...in the midst of all the ruins, all the sudden you see a cute pastry shop running, a convenience store running...honestly it's weird.
This is the neighborhood where we worked at. There's people living there, but you step outside the house and you see houses just left the way it was almost since the tsunami has happened. And you're living your life right next to a house just left waiting to be completely torn down and cleaned up.
