Day 6-9: Working with Samaritan's Purse.
Tuesday night after the Aloha matsuri, we drove to Tome City where the Samaritan's Purse camp in located. From Wednesday till Saturday we worked with the Samaritan's Purse.
It's neat how things work there. There were about 70+ people of volunteers and staff staying there when we arrived. They have a set schedule of meal times and devotions, and working time, and they provide everything we need: meals, place to sleep and shower, tools for working.
While we were there, we were able to go help clean up a house of a family in Ishinomaki.
What we did was basically tear down the whole 1st floor of the house because the 1st of the house has been flooded by the tsunami. She already had all the junk out of her house, but the walls, floors, ceilings were left damaged. The mother of the house worked with us the whole time we were there and told us what happened when the Tsunami hit. She said it was just her and her youngest son at the house and her two daughters and husband was away at work. She ended up being stuck on the 2nd floor of the house for 4days with no electricity or water until the water level went low enough for her to come down. Rest of her family were all safe and returned to the house a few days after the tsunami.
We were able to talk with her, share a little of what we are doing with Samaritan's purse and why we were doing. I pray that the Lord will speak to her heart and come to realize the love He has for her. As much as she was blessed, we were blessed even more by her joy and hospitality towards us.

We usually ate lunch at the house we were working on, but this day we went to San Juan Park to meet with the Osaka team and have lunch with them before they drove back to Osaka.

a very neat experience...though it was hard work at times, we all enjoyed working together and working with the mother from the house. The day that we were leaving she told us that she was going to miss us and that we are welcomed to come back and visit her any day.
