Day 2&3.

The 2nd day we all hopped in the van started our drive up to Tohoku. It is about a 6hour drive from Tokyo to Sendai on the express way. We drove through Saitama, Tochigi, Fukushima to get up there. I was expecting that once I get in to Tohoku area that I was going to see damages from the tsunami and the earthquake, but to our surprise the city of Sendai was beautiful, no damages, and people just living their everyday life. But if you go 20-30minutes away from the city though you start seeing areas that were attacked by the tsunami and just a whole different life going on there.

well, we were able to stay with the Toma family that has recently moved up to Sendai from Okinawa to help host different missions trip from all around the world. They were so hospitable and a blessing to be able to stay with them. Please keep them in your prayers as they have stepped out in faith to serve the Lord up in Tohoku. May God continue to provide for all their needs and give them wisdom as they host different missions teams and do outreaches and just starting life in a new place.

while we were in Tokyo, Logan, one of our students from CCBC, flew in to spend a couple of weeks in mainland before he flies to Okinawa for another semester.
Higashimatsushima.
we attended to Sundays at a church in Higashimatsushima.
This church was also affected by the Tsunami. The whole 1st floor of the building flooded and the pastor and his wife were both stuck on the 2nd floor for 4days until the rescue came.
The church was already cleaned up and was just waiting for new wall paper, but some of the members had moved away after the tsunami.
after church, we ate our lunch and headed to Oku-higashimatsushima where you could still see a lot of the damages. There were still cars in the water, buildings still half under the water, sea wall completely gone, etc.
the concrete had been destroyed from the earthquake and tsunami and was under the water.
funny...there was a guitar sitting in the WC there in still good condition in the midst of chaos around it...
